True revelation, growing in knowledge with understanding from the scriptures regarding God's promises to us, is from our choices in action and not from an intellectual understanding.
To change is an effort of our will affecting our behavior, our appearance and even our lifestyle choices. Transformation is changing from the inside, growing in our understanding of the identity God gives us. This is different than exercising our will and has an outward effect that influences every area of our life.
When we renew our mind through reading, learning and memorizing scripture we learn to see ourself and our God through His eyes. As we apply what we are learning we are being transformed from the inside out.
In our personal life, do we really believe that what God says about us in His written Word is true?
Do we conduct ourself in a manner that honors our Creator, the King of the Universe, the One who is the image of the Invisible God, the One who is closer to us than a friend and is always encouraging us to be better than we are and more than we have been?
Do we lack the courage, are we afraid of being disappointed or of disappointing God, to seek out who we are as a new creation, discovering all that we have available to us in God's written word?
I want to encourage you as you read the Holy Bible and you come across a promise or instruction that speaks to you, take a 3x5 card and write it down. Let these be the scriptures you meditate on. Let the Holy Spirit guide you into God's truth for how they apply directly to your life.
I promise this will help you to be transformed as you renew the wonder and awe of who God is and how much He really loves you. You will learn and be able to verify the truth that our heavenly Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit are truly interested and willing to participate in every area of your life.
No matter how messed up we are in our thinking today, we have hope. We have the choice to renew our mind, to apply what the Holy Spirit is teaching us about who we are and knowing our God better. By opening up our mind to see ourself from His point of view we will become progressively mentally, physically and spiritually healthy sons and daughters of the Living God.
