A thought to consider for today.

Faith Sees!

It is by faith that we see the promise of what we believe to be true on the inside before we ever see anything on the outside.

1 John 5:1-4 (NASB)
Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that overcomes the world--our faith.

Faith has to be in our heart, not just a concept in our mind. We can believe even though we cannot yet see the outcome because our trust is not in our own efforts and ability. Our trust is in Almighty God.

When we have failed to see Christ as Almighty we are limited in our vision of life. There is no abandonment, no true surrender to The One who is greater than ourselves. When we get into difficult circumstances we actually place ourself above God by saying to ourself or out loud, "I can't expect God to do anything about this. It can't be done."

It is always important to remember that our faith in God is born out of His nature and not our own. We begin to see grace in our life when our faith is in the person of Jesus and what He has already done for us. Hope is the sure certainty of the outcome. When our hope is in Jesus then the outcome of our hope is grace.

For many, we keep trying to tell God what His grace is supposed to look like. Instead of letting Him teach us about grace, letting Him give us His eyes to see what He is doing and His ears to hear what He is saying. We are to busy counseling God on what His best for us is, in our limited thinking and understanding.

Father God, today we ask that You remove the scales from our eyes. Let us have an open mind and an open heart to see our self and the world around us through Your eyes. Give us the willingness to be compassionate, with Your nature and not our own, for those around us. Let us be quick to listen and slow to speak as we seek Your counsel on all that we say and do. Thank You for never hesitating to show us how much You love us as You mold and shape us to Your image. Thank You for sending us the Perfect Friend, the Holy Spirit, to guide us, comfort us and encourage us in learning Your ways. Amen
