A thought to consider for today.

Our God gives us a new beginning with a fresh start each day. Man’s wisdom says to look out for you first. God’s wisdom says, surrender to Him to win. Our God rewards those who sincerely seek Him.
1 Peter 5:6, 7
"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”
When we surrender our ways for God’s ways one of the primary areas to surrender is our pride. It can be said of most men that we are never wrong, we are just not always as right as we could be. The barrier our pride puts up can keep us from having the intimacy with God that is available to us all. It can also be said that the pride of man is the root of all our sins. This is the pride of man; we want to believe that we can succeed without God.
When we compare ourself with others we are setting ourself up for missing the mark of living life God’s way. When we compare our looks, our abilities, our stuff with others we are using the worlds system for establishing value. Since God is the one who gives us our talents, spiritual gifts and abilities; our looks and even the stuff we have, we really can’t take credit for it. In the kingdom of God here on earth today our value is in the fact that we are God’s child and has nothing to do with what we have or what we do. We each have a role and a part to play in God’s story. Our story is now a part of a bigger story, His story.

The true point is that through Jesus our temptations and weaknesses are overcome by His grace and power resulting in transformation. This transformation is different than a change in our behavior that can occur because we are applying godly principles to our life. If all we do is change on the outside we can always change back. When we experience true transformation our heart has been changed along with the renewing of our mind. A core belief about our self, our God and even the world has changed resulting in a change in behavior and even our lifestyle.
Father God, today we ask that You give us breakthrough in the area of our pride. Enable us to humble our self before You and Your throne. Help us to accept and receive the love and acceptance You have for us as Your own. Help us to recognize the value You have given us and not our own. Help us to surrender the identity of self we are holding on to and grab hold with our whole heart the identity You have given each of us as Your chosen and adopted child. Thank You for never giving up on us and patiently drawing us to You with Your everlasting love. Amen
