A thought to consider for today.

As Christians, we all are capable of true spirituality. Many of us are confused about what true spirituality is about. We often confuse spirituality with achieving personal goals and self improvement agendas. Whereas true spirituality is about a growing oneness with God. The benefits of self-improvement through transformation and attaining the reality of our hearts desires are all an effect of getting to know the persons of God, personally.

The person of God we often overlook or take for granted is the one closest to us in every way. This is God, the Holy Spirit. We are a physical host with our body to the Spirit of God dwelling within each of us. He leads us into faithfulness, reveals God’s nature and His heart to us. He helps us grow in understanding the difference of God's Sovereign will, His moral will and His individual will for us.

Our first revelation of the person of God is from the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit, we would never have the introduction to Jesus, God, the Son. Without knowing Jesus, we would never be able to know God, the Father, in person, the same way Jesus does. God, the Father is revealing Himself to all of mankind, throughout the earth. The Holy Spirit is our beginning for knowing God in person, instead of just having an awareness and knowledge of God.

When we fail to recognize the Holy Spirit is the same resurrection power in us that raised Jesus from the dead. We can easily make the mistake of trivializing or undervaluing the power and role of the Holy Spirit. He is the breath of the living God, YHVW. He is the immeasurable force that created the universe. He is the Spirit that was breathed into the dust that formed Adam. He is the same Spirit that came upon the prophets of old. He is the mighty rushing wind, putting tongues of fire over the disciples heads on the day of Pentecost.

It is the Holy Spirit that enables a true oneness with our God without seeking to be equal with God. The Holy Bible reveals four tasks of the Holy Spirit in regard to our spirituality. The Holy Spirit gives us true spirituality by quickening our dead spirits, transforming our fallen nature, sealing us with God’s ownership, and filling us with His presence. He equips us to do the work of God’s kingdom. He guides us, teaches us, heals our mind, body and soul; empowering us to live holy and righteous lives.

Father God, today we thank You for our growing understanding of how much You really love each of us and want to genuinely be a part of our life. Forgive us for our stubbornness and unwillingness to accept and appreciate the honor and privilege You have given us for our body to be a host to God, the Holy Spirit. Forgive us for not recognizing how much You really do want to be a part of our everyday life.

Thank You for all You have done for us and in us so that we can get to know You in such a close and personal way. You are our living example of what is honor and respect with integrity. Thank You for showing us how to love and accept each other by the way You give of Yourself to us everyday. Thank You for Your faithfulness and the patience You have for us to accept You the way You have us.  Amen
