I am sealed and confirmed by the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 1:13-14 (NLT)
"In Him, you also after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation--having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory."
God's perfect love for us is expressed in the form of action. God's first action of our adoption into His family is to give Himself as a surety that He will finish the good work He has begun in us with our redemption and restoration. This guarantee is in the person of God, the Holy Spirit, living in us and participating in life with us giving tangible results in our life as confirmation the deal has been consummated. The proof or fruit of our confirmation of God's promise to us has progressive results that are revealed in our attitudes, our thoughts and the actions of our choices.
Galatians 5:22 (NASB)
"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control; against such things there is no law."
2 Peter 1:3-7 (NLT)
"As we know Jesus better, His divine power gives us everything we need for living a godly life. He has called us to receive His own goodness! And by that same mighty power, He has given us all of His rich and wonderful promises. He has promised that you will escape the decadence all around you caused by evil desires and that you will share in His divine nature."
"So make every effort apply the benefits of these promises in your life. Then your faith will produce a life of moral excellence. A life of moral excellence leads to knowing God better. Knowing God leads to self-control. Self-control leads to patient endurance. Patient endurance leads to godliness. Godliness leads to love for other Christians and finally you will grow to have genuine love for everyone."
These verses are an outline of the progress we can depend on as we grow in our relationship with God. The key to this progress is the effort we put into our relationship. Unlike the world, it is not our performance that accomplishes these things. It is God's grace making these changes in each of us so that no one can boast of their own righteousness; our right standing with God. The difference between this relationship and all others in our life is that God will never reject you or throw you away.
In all personal relationships it takes both parties to determine the quality of a relationship. God has already made His choice and He is willing to go as far as you are willing to go with Him. The choice for the depth and quality of your relationship with the most powerful being you will ever know is left up to you.
It is hard to be close and connect with someone when we don't understand how they think. It is no different with God. We are not able to be equals with God in any way. However, He wants us to know Him better and has given us ways to connect with how He thinks. The Holy Bible is God's autobiography and a good start to learn how godly knowledge and wisdom is joined with His heart for mankind. Interacting with other children of God also helps us grow in our understanding of God.
Through Jesus, God has no wrath or anger towards you today regardless of your history.
As we grow in our ability to connect our knowledge of God with the heart of God we become better at hearing God talk to us. Until this happens it is like having a radio receiver that is not tuned in to the right frequency. God is talking to us, but all we are able to hear is static or intermittent sounds. It is no different than when someone says something that makes no sense to us, even though we know they aren't just babbling. We hear their words, we just don't comprehend what they are saying or we have no place to put what they said in our minds filter of understanding.
The best news for us is that God chose us before we chose Him. He is faithful and true with us regardless of how poorly we have treated Him in the past. He has forgiven us completely and graciously extends new mercy and grace to us each day. It is as if we have a fresh start every day, a do over with no baggage on God's part in our relationship. Our part is to put in the time and effort for the quality of relationship we want. God does the rest. We can trust God and His timing to bring about this desire in our heart to know Him better.

How does today’s message apply to my life?…my beliefs?
