Day 10

I have been chosen and I belong to my God.

1 Thessalonians 1:4-5 (NLT) “We know that God loves you, dear brothers and sisters, and that He chose you to be His own people. For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance that what we said was true. And you know that the way we lived among you was further proof of the truth of our message.”

2 Thessalonians 3:3-5 (NLT) “But the Lord is faithful; He will make you strong and guard you from the evil one. And we are confident in the Lord that you are practicing the things we commanded you, and that you always will. May the Lord bring you into an ever deeper understanding of the love of God and the endurance that comes from Christ.

What a privilege we have today, having been led to Jesus by the Holy Spirit. We have the ability to live according to the truth we know with more than just the strength of our own will and effort. We have the power of God behind us as we are transformed into the likeness of Jesus.

As we are being transformed we are fully covered by the richness of God’s mercy and grace. What a relief that God is patient with us as we learn how to apply the truths of God we know to our life. It is also a comfort to know that when we were moved to accept Jesus into our life it was not dependent on the persuasiveness of someone talking to us. It was God who was pricking our heart strings and conscience.

It is the closer we get to Jesus that we begin to have some comprehension of how much we are truly loved. When we deal with an issue or event in our life that is hurting us and even our past hurts and scars we find the compassion of God for His children. We are amazed to learn that God hurts with us when we hurt and that we can hurt God. The grace of God is overwhelming when we realize we were in the wrong with our attitude or action that caused us to hurt and yet He still hurts with us.

When this reality sets in is when we begin to want to be good sons and daughters for our heavenly Father. For most of us when we get it, I mean really get it, is when we have hit bottom in an area of our life for us and we know this is our fault that is the turning point. We might have been going to church all of our life and done our best to draw close to God and can even have a relationship. When this happens in our life we start to truly get the true acceptance, His complete forgiveness along with the mercy and grace our kind and loving God has for us.

We know in this instant as God reaches out and picks us up and sets us on our feet again that we have met God. It is not even important how long it takes for God to restore us. We know that God is with us and from this point on our life starts to confirm the message of hope for the lost, the hurt and the broken. Our intangible God has had a tangible effect in our life and we begin to live the message that God is with us and He has the power to save.

Today’s Reflection

What is the Holy Spirit saying to me…?

How does today’s message apply to my life?…my beliefs?
