Day 8

I am a temple for the Holy Spirit. My God lives in me.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (NIV)
“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body.”

Romans 12:1-5 (NLT)
“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask? Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect His will really is.”

What an awesome difference Christianity offers over every other religion in the world. Instead of earning our way into a place of godliness and acceptance so that we are good enough to be with God, He does it all for us. He provides the path of righteousness as a choice by faith having paid the cost for us and then lives in us to be a part of everything we do. We now have God living in us as an invited guest in the temple of our body.
The Holy Spirit is a complete gentleman. He never forces us to do anything and always gives us the choice to choose our path and make our own decisions. The best part is that we don't have to choose blindly. If we want to have God's help He is willing to share His wisdom and knowledge so that we can make an informed choice. When we surrender our will to do God’s will we are not throwing our hands in the air and letting God take over. We are actually exercising our will, choosing God’s will and way over ours.

When we choose God’s way and will the Holy Spirit empowers and enables us to stay on the path which our heavenly Father has made for us.  This is God partnering with man, you and I, to accomplish His purpose on earth. Jesus has already overcome it all, even the world of today. It is through the Holy Spirit in us we too have the ability to overcome our own body, our temptations and our weaknesses. God doing for us what we cannot do for ourselves is the action of grace in our daily life.

When we hear the voice of God talking to us whether it is our heavenly Father, Jesus or the Holy Spirit it is through the person of the Holy Spirit. This is the still small voice, the gentle whisper of the Holy Spirit talking to our new spirit from God upon our rebirth. God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts and the mind cannot accept them directly. Our body, soul and spirit all connect in the mind. The mind is our filter for our understanding of life. We renew our mind, learning God's way and unlearning the ways of the world to better understand what our spirit hears from God.

The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth. When we keep our mind open and our heart willing we are positioning ourselves for God to teach us and transform us. Letting the complete man or woman He has created us to be on the inside manifest on the outside. This is the new man that is neither Jew nor Gentile, slave or free, but God’s child on the earth as a new creation.

Today’s Reflection

What is the Holy Spirit saying to me…?

How does today’s message apply to my life?…my beliefs?
