Day 33

I am an obedient chosen and adopted child of the Living God.
I am living in victory; God’s way not my way.

1 John 5:1-5 (NLT)
Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God. And everyone who loves the Father loves His children, too. We know we love God’s children if we love God and obey His commandments. Loving God means keeping His commandments, and really, that isn’t difficult.

For every child of God defeats this evil world by trusting Christ to give us victory. And the ones who win this battle against the world are the ones who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.

When we came to believe that Jesus is who He says He is because we have had an encounter with Him that is our personal revelation of God, we have switched from being our own source of power to having Jesus become our Life Source. We are no longer relying on our own abilities and knowledge to overcome our own issues and the world around us. We are learning to rely on all 3 persons of God.

As we learn to walk in the new nature we have been given we are learning to connect God’s heart with our understanding of His Word. Our obedience to His guidance is not as if following a taskmaster as the Law of Moses was given to do. The law and the Prophets are fulfilled through loving God and our fellow man. This means that our journey is one of learning how to have and give honor and respect for our God, our fellow man and ourselves. As Jesus told His disciples; “A new command I give you, love one another, as I have loved you.”

It is very important to recognize that our behavior is not the goal or where our victory rests. Jesus didn’t come so that God could have good behaving children. He came to exchange the death in us for life. The victory we have been given is walked out as we rely on God to live through us in our personal process of restoration. While we are working out the completeness of what God has already done in us He is enabling and empowering us through the Holy Spirit to be His partner in restoring all of creation back to the Father through Jesus.

As we mature as kings, queens and priests of God we are learning what it means to have and exercise dominion and authority in the earth as a steward of God’s creation. We are implementing God’s sense of order in the sphere of influence we each have been given. Since everything is centered on loving God and others the foundation of our choices are giving to others, demonstrating honor and respect for all and forgiving everyone as God has forgiven us. When we live this way we are tuning in to God’s heart and trusting Him to lead us into all truth through the Holy Spirit.

This does not mean life will have no hardship or challenges. Our ability to face adversity is the perfect opportunity to stand in the gap calling heaven to earth as we go through our life’s circumstances. Especially the ones we have no control over. Having God’s shalom; the nothing missing, nothing broken and nothing lacking peace, in spite of our circumstances is demonstrating the reality heaven on earth today in a fallen world.

Today’s Reflection

What is the Holy Spirit saying to me…?

How does today’s message apply to my life?…my beliefs?
